5K!!!!!!!

I did it! So, it may not have been record breaking time, but I did it! Someone recently asked me what my goal was for today, and I said it was to finish. :) So, once I got started this a.m., and with each mile marker I passed, I realized that I DID have a goal, and that was to finish before 40 minutes. So, what was my time?...36:01 minutes. Ha! I know that probably sounds pathetic to most of you, but I was proud just to have finished it - and I met my goal, which made it that much better. Chad and Lillie were there to cheer me on at the finish line, along with my friend Jennifer who had crossed the finish line 5 minutes before me. There were also a group of other women from our church and from the preschool where I worked yesterday,...jogging WITH someone (or rather a group of someone's) makes it sooooo much easier and more enjoyable. I really did have a great time today and although it was hard - I can honestly say this is something I'd like to stick with. It isn't about losing weight, and it isn't really even about being healthy (although that is a major plus!)...it's more about doing something for myself in a phase of life when I'm constantly doing for others. Chad has been practically pushing me out the door to "train" for this race b/c he knows how good it is for me and for our family that I have something to do! I'm thankful to have a husband who cares about me taking time out for me. :)

Me and Jen - we've been jogging off-n-on over the past month to prepare for the race. It was really nice to have a friend to do this with - I wouldn't have it done it without someone encouraging me along!

Darren (a friend of Chad's from church crossing the finish line. This pic cracked me up - the guy in the red short's looks really funny!) Darren finished the race in 24 minutes - WOW! I was so impressed! His wife Leslie ran as well - they both inspired Chad and I to do this together!

Valerie Buckler (Shep and Rauly's 3's teacher from Sharing Tree) crossing the finish line with Jen Sherman! Way to go ladies!!

Jennifer and I after finishing the race - I think I was more excited than she was...she's already run a full and a half marathon so this was a walk in the park for her!

You skinny minnie! You're my hero! I just joined Weight Watchers and have been getting up at 6 a.m. to jog before the kids wake up but I have a loooooong way to go. I need your inspiration!

You have a way of always making the light shine on others which to me makes your inner light shine even brighter. I'm thankful that you are taking such good care of yourself so you'll be in good shape mentally and physically when the kids hit their teens! :)j/k... Seriously, you'll be in shape for your grandkids! :)
