Dear Thumb....

You've slept with me...

SAT WITH ME....

THEN SLEPT WITH ME SOME MORE...

YOU'VE WOKEN WITH ME...

DRIVEN WITH ME...

STAYED AWAKE WITH ME...

PLAYED WITH ME...

AND MADE ME SMILE...
\
IT'S HARD TO SAY GOODBYE TO A FRIEND I'VE ALWAYS KNOWN...

AND I CAN ASSURE YOU I WOULDN'T SAY GOODBYE ON MY OWN ACCORD...

BUT THE DOCTOR (AND MOMMA AND DADDY) SAY IT'S TIME TO LET YOU GO...SO WITH A SWEET, SWEET KISS...I'LL PUT YOU AWAY AND SAY THANK YOU FOR THE LOVE YOU SENT MY WAY. LIFE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN AS SAFE OR AS GOOD WITHOUT YOU.

**Disclaimer: Although Rauly's parents did in fact sit down with Rauly and tell her that she needed to no longer suck her thumb, Rauly did in fact quit sucking her thumb on her own! They (not one time) had to tell her to keep her thumb out of her mouth...let's be honest, if they had needed to, they most likely wouldn't have succeeded. Rauly has proven to be very ready for this step and her parents have been the ones shedding a few tears over her (very easy) transition.**

I am pathetic I sucked my thumb until I was like 8 and then my parents had to wrap it to keep it out of my mouth!!

How lucky for y'all! We are still working on Will. He sucks his thumb when he is tired. I guess we need one of his older cousins to "persuade" him like Chad did Brandon!

I'm so glad that the transition was easy for her! James is going to have to give up his paci soon, so we're shooting for October. You are right, it's kinda sad for the parents, too! She looked so cute sucking her thumb, but I guess there comes a time when it'll be cute no longer! :)

HA! Love the thumb post! She's growing up. It's so hard to believe that they grow so fast. My kids have never liked the thumb or the paci so it's a bit easier on my end. Also, my blog just went private and I'm not sure I have your email address. Email it to me at 4mhblog@gmail.com and I'll add you to the list of readers. I'm trying to make sure everyone gets added. Thanks girl! :)

It's hard to give up those thumbs, they are always around. I sucked my thumb until I was 7. Your dentist will thank you later for getting her to stop now. But she looks so sweet!

Wow, you're very lucky! My niece is nearly 7 and sleeps with a sock all the way up to her elbow to keep from popping her thumb in her mouth while she sleeps. She's fine all day, but the thumb takes over at night. I guess Rauly can do anything she puts her mind to! Precious pictures!

Awww.....ok, how did you get her to stop??? Jace is doing it and Ava is right there with him. I know I'm going to have to make them both stop at some point. I need some advice.

Shauri,
I can't explain it - Rauly is just flat out strong willed and if we suggest something to her that is remotely appealing, she get's it done without has having to break a sweat at all. She potty trained herself (truly!) and although I put that yucky nail polish stuff on her thumb (twice) she only tasted it once and was done with her thumb after that. In so many other ways she's our tough one, but when it comes to making life transitions, she's proven to be our EASY child! :) btw: we never would've asked her to stop, but two doctors in two weeks told us (and her) that it would be much more difficult to break the habit if we waited much longer.

Rauly Marie is so cute with that thumb. I love the last 2 pics especially- she really is amazing the way she handles life's transitions. I'd say she is a very secure and confident young lady. If she's convinced she wants it, then the job is done! :) I'm going to miss watching her - she had a special technique with rubbing the end of her nose at the same time. It reminded me of when you were little and sucked your thumb and rubbed your belly button at the same time. Thanks for walking us thru the pics - I guess it's a transition for all of us! :)

OMG what a great, creative post (as usual)! Definitely an "era" ending for your big girl. No babies at the Eason home anymore! Way to go, Little Miss Queen Bee!!!
