Forgive me Father for I have sinned...it's been 1 day since my last confession.

1.) My entire house is a mess. I typically clean it every day, multiple times throughout the day. BUT, today, I decided to take a break - so, the entire house is a mess and I don't care. To paint a picture, I'm talkin' clothes that need to be folded, dishes that need to be washed, toys scattered all over the living room floor, out master bed never even got made, and my kitchen table has about 20 fingerprints on it. (Sorry Melissa, you're probably cringing right now!)

2.) My family ate out twice today...and nope, I'm not going to lie and say we ordered salads or even grilled chicken. In fact, I had fried chicken and fries for lunch...and oh yeah, it gets worse....mexican for dinner. Yikes - it looks a lot worse written out then it tasted! :) Why did we eat out? It's simple - I didn't want to cook - I know....baaad!!

3.) I took my kids to the park today and let them play barefoot. (gasp!) Granted it is an extremely clean playground with mulch made out of recycled tires (hmmmm...I realize that sounds disgusting, but it's actually very expensive and feels awesome on your toes!). I even let them play in the muddy puddles - hey - when you're on a roll.....

4.) I am currently laying on the couch with my socked feet propped up on pillows...my hair is in a pony tail and I'm wearing Harding University grubs that are about 7 years old. Yep,...I'm lookin' pretty rough! I did go to church this morning (even attended 2 services due to volunteering)...so the fact that I had on make-up, a dress and heels for a few hours counts for something right?! :)

5.) I went to JoAnn's Fabric in an attempt to prove to myself that I was infact good for something and was planning on signing up for a class of some kind. My artsy blogger friends, Jennifer, Sarah and Katie have inspired me so I thought I'd branch out and try something new. Instead of signing up for a class, I made a fool of myself by asking the guest services lady if you needed a sewing maching to crochet...I watched her right eyebrow raise a full inch and so I quickly moved on to my next question. Turns out, after about 5 questions (which I thought were all very good and appropriate questions), I am officially dumb when it comes to sewing. And the one class I was really interested in (which is smocking), well, they don't even offer it. SO, I went through all that humiliation for nothing. Dr. Rine at HU would be so so very sad.

Whelp - I feel better now - I've purged all my sins (well, most of them!) and am ready to start anew tomorrow. To all my friends out there who are stunned at my honesty and repulsed by my laziness, sewing ignorance, and/or unhealthy eating choices, I ask you for forgiveness....I will do better tomorrow! (But as a side note...I also recommend that you try it - it's actually been a very good day!)

You crack me up, Lindsey! Days like that are fun! What amazes me now that James is so into everything, is how fast our house can go from perfect to messy! I have to clean the kitchen and living room twice a day now!

I had a whole weekend like that! Now I'm at work and thinking "Man, I should have really cleaned the house this weekend." Too late now! But I was able to really enjoy my weekend, expect for Austin cutting 3 teeth right now!

I, too, LOVE those kind of days even though I feel guilty. Sometimes, though, it's just necessary to have a DO NOTHING day!

I probably need to confess every weekend then. I work really hard during the week to get the house really clean and then on the weekends I slack off and just have fun with my family. It's so nice to walk by a messy kitchen and say "oh well, it's the weekend". Saturday we ate bad too . . . McDonald's for lunch and pizza for dinner oh and ice cream for dessert! I'm glad you had a relaxing weekend!

Aw, ladies - ya'll are all so kind to confess right along with me! Glad to hear I'm not the only one who occasionally slacks and actually enjoys it! :)

Lauren - you are so right!! I'm constantly amazed at how disastrous the house can look after just a few hours of not picking up after ourselves.

Jennifer - I am so excited! I did some research on Jacksonville and found a smocking class - the teacher contacted me today so I'm hoping to get more info soon!!

This is such a great post! Why? Because it shows you're human!!! You need a little R&R every now and then--I'm so glad you were able to take it easy for a day. By the way, your question about needing a sewing machine for crocheting cracked me up! I'm glad I'm not the only one who is clueless when it comes to sewing.

What a perfect day!

And by the way, what's sewing?!

Okay, I'm still laughing. I've eaten nothing but chocolate and cholesterol since Anna Kate was born (I'm counting on the breastfeeding to kick in with its magical calorie-eating powers!), the only reason my house isn't a mess is because my mom is here, and I can count on two hands the number of times I've put on a bra in the past month. But I do know how to crochet, so that's got to count for something!

Linds,
Sounds like you had a fabulous and well-deserved day. I must admit that I am the queen of dumb questions. Not long ago, I asked the lady at the Wendy's drive-thru what a "combo" was. Wow.
Amanda
We miss you guys!

Amanda, how can it be the year 2007 and you don't know what a "combo" is?!?! That is so funny!! (But in a way, really really good - you guys must never eat fast food!!)

Hannah, glad to hear you've got help during the first few weeks...aren't moms such a blessing?! And as for the bra comment...I can totally relate - I cracked up when I read that!! Hope nursing is going well for you and Anna Kate!!

Oh I can so relate! However, I love those days. Mommies need a "saturday" every now and then!

Okay, first of all, in response to #1, welcome to everyday life at my house!!! You might envy my "artsiness", but I envy your "neatfreakishness!" You clean everyday--WHAT?!!! I am lucky to clean once per week. Anyway, don't feel bad about all this stuff. And don't compare yourself to others--you are wonderful just the way you are. Enjoy that fried chicken, girl! You're tall, so you can get away with the occasional processed-food overload.
