Hope you all had a wonderful Easter with your family and friends!! Chad and I had a really special day yesterday - Shep understood the Easter Bunny concept this year which made decorating eggs so much fun! He ran in to our room Sunday morning about to blow a gasket because he discovered his Easter Basket by his bed and just couldn't believe the Easter Bunny had actually come!! We wound up spending the day in Palatka with Chad's family - Chad's cousins (Earl and Kim) hosted our get-together and Shep and Rauly had a blast playing with all their cousins!

I want to share something that happened last week. I recently joined a Community Bible Study in Jacksonville and the study offers childcare - the 2-5 year olds participate in a Bible Study that follows along with what the adults are studying and the leaders in the program told me beforehand that the children's study was awesome!! They actually sent me home with the children's curriculum just so that I would know what he was learning about and so that I could encourage him to continue learning more about the topic of scripture throughout the rest of the week. Well, on the way home from the study this past week, Shepherd and I were talking about why we celebrate Easter. I was explaining to Shepherd (in easy to understand children's terms) how Jesus died and rose again and that we celebrate that he lives in all of us now. At this point, Shepherd began asking me who Jesus lived inside...naming specific family members. (Example: "Mommy, does Jesus live in Meemaw? Does Jesus live in Peepaw?) Well, this went on for a while...till his questions really hit home - he began naming names of people that Jesus does not live inside. At this point I became teary eyed and was reminded yet again how important it is that we raise children who love the Lord whole-heartedly. After taking a deep breath and wiping the tears away, I explained to Shepherd (yet again in easy to understand children's terms) how Jesus gives us all a choice. I told him that everything is God's creation, but to be a child of God we must ask Jesus to live inside of us and we must try to always do the right thing. He seemed to understand what I said, although I really have no clue if he got it. It doesn't matter though,...I know some day he will understand - and I can assure you I will be much more prepared from here on out - this was the first time he has ever showed interest and I am just SO excited to begin this journey!!!

I know Shepherd really touched you and it was hard for you to answer some of his questions. I also know you know the right thing to say and Shepherd and Rauly will grow up in the Lord because they have such wonderful role models who will teach them the truth.
And, you look great. Love the hair, love the skirt, love the bracelet, LOVE YOU. Gald you had such a good time. Can't wait to see you tomorrow!!!!!!
Guess no beach since it has turned winter again. :)

Wow, that was a deep conversation I'm sure. I think you handled it great. I don't think you can prepare yourself for everything. Kids amaze me at what they truly understand. I know I don't give Jace enough credit. Just when I think he won't understand something, he surprises me and does! You look great by the way! Love the Easter outfit! Love, Shauri

Lindsey, what you wrote about Shepherd almost made me cry--how amazing that he's thinking about spiritual things at this age! I really admire the way both of you are raising and teaching both Shepherd and Rauly.

Reading about your conversation with Shepherd gave me chill bumps. It sounds like you did a wonderful job explaining it to him and I look forward to the day when Payton and I can have a similar conversation with Will. You look beautiful in the picture with Rauly! I'm so glad you, Chad, the kids and Chad's family had a great Easter.

We just finished up studying Daniel. Wow! It was thought provoking and mind boggling at the same time. We are finishing up with Colossians. We are doing Revelations next year. I am really excited about it. I also know it is going to be really hard though. I just LOVE how in depth the study gets. I really have enjoyed going deep into one book of the Bible instead of doing a topical study. Avery loves it too! She will come home singing songs she has learned. She just soaks it all up!

I had to leave this comment at Ananymous b/c my password is not working for some reason

Lindsey, I don't know if you have read "Shepherding a Child's Heart" by Tedd Tripp, but it teaches you how to incorporate teaching your kids the Gospel when you correct and discipline them. Since our kids need discipline pretty much daily, we have lots of opportunities to share the Gospel with them. Check it out!
