First day of school...Take 2!!

Shep bounced in to our room this morning saying his belly was all better and he was ready to go to school. I stared at him a few seconds and then sputtered out "who are you and what have you done with my son?!". You see, Shep has NOT been looking forward to going to school...he's been anxious, nervous and dreading the LONG hours that public school requires (smart boy, he knows he can get all his school work done at home in less then 2 hours a day). So, imagine my surprise when he bounced in to my room like Tigger and showed ENTHUSIASM about the prospect of school.

His virus was short-lived...it only lasted a few hours and although it had been a little less then 24 hours since he had been better, I decided we needed to get on board with HIS enthusiasm and let him start today. I know, I know!...you're suppossed to wait a full 24 hours and I know!, I know!...I'm totally being THAT mom! :-/ Does it make you feel any better to know that I've never been "that mom" before??...oh well, there's a first time for everything.
So here's some pics of my two lil' side-kicks...kickin' each other around. :-) Rauly played the part of Chad today...being perfectly light-hearted and keepin' Shep smiling. (Chad left for south Florida today so he couldn't be there to walk Shep in with me.) When we got to Shep's class, Rauly boldly waved to everyone and said "Hi!" to all the kids in the hallway, and then proceeded to walk in Shep's class as if it were her own! LOL! I had to call her back out (which got a scowl...she truly wanted to stay!).

Shep and I had already had our morning prayer times and cuddles, and had already talked about what today might be like. I gave him a big ol' hug before we got to the school so that he wouldn't feel like I was embarrassing him if I tried to love on him in front of his classmates. And boy am I glad I did, because when we got to his classroom, he just walked right in...I hollered out "Bye Shep" and he hollered over his shoulder "c-ya later!". And that was that. My little boy was spreading his wings and I left trusting that he was in very good hands.
