Tropical Storm Fay...
See that big white blob covering the entire state of Florida?...that would be Fay...and she's been in Jax now for 2 full days. My kids have now officially learned to appreciate the words to the song "Rain, Rain, Go away....". It seems Tropical Storm Fay really likes Jacksonville...I do too, so I really can't blame her - but I have to admit...she has exhausted her stay and it is now time for her to go! Thankfully we haven't lost any tree's (yet), and thankfully we haven't lost any power (yet)...but my heart sure goes out to the 80,000 other families who are currently sitting in un-air-conditioned and dark houses!

OH - and these tiny people in the pic below may appear crazy since they've opted to run out in to the storm...but trust me - being cooped up inside for 48 hours (with toddlers) is NO easy task. After the kids begged and pleaded for me to let them step foot outside, I finally agreed to let them go to the Library...HOLY CANNOLI - we about got blown away and by the time we stepped inside the building, we were literally dripping everywhere! We looked at each other in a stupor and out of nowhere, Shep threw his head back and started cracking up...to which I of course had to join in! Rauly on the other hand groaned and fussed and did the "crab walk" (ya know...arms and legs sticking out) until we finally got home and changed her - she does NOT like to be wet unless she is in her swim suit! My kids have two rules for the library (that they could recite to you at the drop-of-a-hat!). Rule #1 - Be quiet! Rule #2 - WALK! Well, this afternoon, the librarians were kind enough to let the kids make noise...they kept looking at me expecting to be reprimanded, but there were only 3 other families in the library (all with young children) and the librarians were kind enough to let us all know that they could get their wiggles out! I now have a new found appreciation for the Fleming Island Library staff!! :)

Thanks Linsey- I actually remember sitting in the nursery with Landon at white county and seeing Chad come in with the nurses holding Shepherd right after you delivered to watch him get weighed and cleaned up. I also remember hoping that you would get a different lactation nurse than the one I got...did you get the crazy one??

I feel for you... my aunt and uncle live in Jax and they lost power for a while. But now they said that they are on snake and alligator watch! Yikes! I hope that everything is back to normal soon!

I am so glad you are all safe in Jacksonville! We drove through there on our way home from Charleston on Thursday and it looked like it was about to get pretty bad. How sweet of the librarians to let the kids run and play. I'm sure that helped the cabin fever!

(sorry for the long comment, i couldn't find your email:) AH YES I saw that poor baby. I was freaking out when the nurses brought him into the nursery, but they assured me that they had seen ones like this before and that he would be fine, but I couldn't believe it. I got to see lots of things while we were there (b/c we were not allowed to take Landon out of the nursery ya know), but that was the most bizzare!! And I could go on and on about that lactation lady...
And I wish that we could have hung out while we were pregnant at Harding, I had no body that could really understand my life those nine months - I was so nervous and felt like such an odd ball! Kev and I just scared most of our friends into better birth control I think!! HAHA
I don't remember knowing that you were prego until somebody told me that you were in labor! But it was neat to see Chad come in with Shepherd, he had that proud daddy look plastered across his face big time! I actually tried to come say hi to you once, but someone from ya'lls fam told me you were nursing or naping and then next thing I knew you guys were discharged!

I was wondering if you were getting hit hard by Fay. Everytime the weatherman showed the map there was Jacksonville and Valdosta. Did John and Melissa get a lot of rain. We've gotten rain off and on for the past week and there's more to come, but I'm certainly glad it's not a Tropical Storm!

OH we had serious cabin fever this past week/weekend. It was awesome to see the sun shinning this morning, it didn't last long before the rain clouds came rolling in.

We never lost power either and that was a huge blessing.

I'm sure I will see you this week at orientation. I will be the one with the blonde, tan little girl hanging on me like a leach. She still says she is not going to preschool :(

I met your sweet mother-in-law on Sunday. It made me remember that I needed to send a comment to you! We've been enjoying meeting people at Argyle. Very nice. Still wondering where all the people our age go during Sunday morning class. They are MIA!!! Would you mind sending me your email address yet again? I've been having computer issues. Here's a reliable email account: gsbbking@aol.com

We still need to get coffee when things calm down from school getting started, etc.

How's Mel hanging in there? I'm glad you were able to be there to celebrate on Janey's birthday.

Speaking of family rules.... just thought I'd share a few of ours:
1) don't chew on your toys (esp the ones from China--which is ALL of them)
2) Wash your hands wash your hands wash your hands!!!!! (yes, said three times with exclamation points! Can you tell I'm sick of being sick???)
3) Don't drink the bathwater.

We have others like "don't lick your toes or the walls" but you get the idea... I'm thinking, WHY do these rules actually have to be rules? Shouldn't they go without saying??? Particularly the ones about not licking walls and shoes and things. ??? Maybe having 3 sons dooms me to a life of rules like this???

I've been praying for you guys!! It does suck being stuck inside for days, especially with kids. They get major cabin fever!! I hope you've gotten through it okay. Love ya!
