What do you wanna' be when you grow up?....

Shepherd has been paying closer attention to when his daddy is home, and when he's walking out the door to go to work. He's noticing that we have an office in our home and that the office is sacred (meaning there can be NO crying, shouting, fighting, or squeals of laughter while coming in or out...as you can imagine, this rule must be laid down daily!). He's also been noticing how his daddy dresses up with a suit and tie before he leaves the house and he thinks that is too cool!

I over heard my lil' munchkin talking to Rauly earlier today and while they were playing, he declared (as he stood up and put his sunglasses on) that it was time for him to go to work.....he said it loudly so as to be noticed by all....and then he spun around to walk down the stairs and out the front door. Chad and I both raised our eyebrows and this conversation followed:

Myself: "Shep, where do you work?"
Shepherd: "In the smoke!" (duh mom!)
Myself: "Huh....the smoke?...why do you work in the smoke?"
Shepherd: "Because! I'm a Firefighter!" (duh, again!)
Myself: "Oooohhh of course dude....that makes perfect sense now. But have you ever considered having an office job?"
Shepherd: (practically rolling his eyes now) "Mom - Firefighters do not have offices."
Myself: "Right...I knew that...just checkin' to see if you did."

Shortly after, I caught him playing with his rocket and was told very adamently that he now wanted to be a rocket scientist...he said he wanted to stand on the moon in his special suit so that the sun wouldn't burn his skin....smart boy! I personally don't care what he wants to be when he grows up....as long as he doesn't grow up too soon!
