SHEPHERD'S X-RAY RESULTS

Yesterday was a great day! I have such good news to share with everyone...I'm still floating on Cloud 9! SO - I'm just going to list off ALL THE MANY PRAISES regarding Shep's doctors appt.!!!

1.) The hole that had origonally gone through the center of Shepherd's growth plate in his left knee cap is now no longer in his knee. Because his leg has grown SO significantly (praise GOD!), the hole is now in his femur.

2)That is great news for many reasons. His Femur can handle stress MUCH better than his knee cap could. The significant growth in his leg shows that his growth plate continued to grow straight and strong despite the stress. Also, both his legs are the same length!!! (The doctor took x-rays of both legs from hip to toe.)

3) And on to the most amazing news of the day!! :) Shepherd's hole is NO LONGER A HOLE!!! If you were to look at an x-ray, it would look more like a hair-line fracture.

4) This means that new bone has continued to grow evenly throughout the hole and has grown back VERY quickly. Obviousely his leg will be much stronger with just a hair line fracture and not an actual gaping hole through his bone.

As for the swelling and pain last week...he said Shep's left leg is still weaker than his right leg and that all the jumping and running and skidding, ect, could cause his leg to swell and to feel some pain. He is probably never going to be "in the clear" with Osteomyeltis...there is always the chance that it could come back and it typically comes back in the original spot that was infected (being his left knee), but we can't live life worrying about what could happen...we're just focusing on the wonderful news we received thus far!

SO - Thank you God for continuing to heal Shepherd's body - Thank you to you all for praying for our son and - Thank you to Mike for introducing us to MannaTech and for sponsoring us so that Shepherd could take such AWESOME nutrients throughout all of this!

I included a short slide-show of our day yesterday. I made the entire day about Shep - Friday morning I brought cookies to his classroom so that I could meet all his friends and visit with his teacher. Linda came and picked Rauly up before Shep got out of school so that I could go to Savannah with just Shepherd - thanks Linda!! It was really a wonderful day with just the two of us...we never get that time so it was truly a special day! The only bummer?...they didn't get to sleep till 10pm and woke up at 6am this morning - what's up with that?!?! To all you moms who have 10-12 hour per night sleepers and whose children are calm...I envy you!!!

I am so happy about Shep's leg! Praise God! And about this 10-12 hour sleepers, who has those kids? I wanted to sleep in this morning, and Austin woke up at 5:45. Now this is the same child that I have to pry out if the bed during the week to get to the babysitter's house on time! Go figure!
Have a good weekend!

No he isn't Mr. Swain's son from CAC, but I did ask him that same question.
