Forgot to brag on my lil' man earlier this week...

Shepherd went to the dentist for the very first time (oh yeah...we waited WAAAAY too long, I realize that!). So anyways, he's 4.5, brushes his teeth every morning and every night, rarely drinks anything but water and doesn't eat much sugar at all. Because of this, I felt pretty confident that we didn't need to rush our trip to the Dentist. He sailed through his first set of x-rays (which showed all 20 teeth had come in, and also showed all 20 adult teeth ready to start popping up within the next year or two). Then came the big news.....drum roll please.... NO CAVITIES! The Dentist said his teeth were beautiful and strong and he couldn't have been more pleased. WHEW! Shep proceeded to have his first "cleaning" and chose the cherry flavored flouride. He did SO good! The Dentist asked him how many teeth he thought he had on the top...to which Shepherd responded "uh..10?". The Dentist laughed and said - "hey - that's right! So if you have 10 on the top, how many do you think you have on the bottom?" To which Shepherd responded..."uh...10?". The Dentist laughed again and then asked "So, if you have 10 on top, and 10 on bottom, how many teeth do you have total?". Then he glanced up at us and said "hmmm...that's probably way over a 4 year old's head, eh?" Shep sat there for about 5 seconds and then said triumphantly "20!" We all started cracking up!

Yay for pearly whites!

That's great!! And it is so good that you are so diligent to make sure he brushes properly!! My kids brush every night and that is a battle!! I haven't been able to get them to brush in the morning yet. Yes, I know....that's BAD!

Yeah for Shep! What age are they supposed to go to the dentist for the first time? Austin would rather suck on the tootbrush than brush, so I work on them first than he "brushes" ;)

I as getting caught up on my reading, and we have been being with sickies also/ Hope that ya'll are over everything! I hate being sick, and having my family sick.

Yay Shep!!! I will admit I'm still putting off the dentist visit....but it IS on my list of things to do THIS YEAR, so hopefully before Christmas my kids will have seen their first dentist!

My girls go to the dentist on Thursday. They have both been, before, but I've been very bad about taking them every six months like the dentist claims that I should. I figure that if they're not having any problems, then what's the point, right? Anyways, the funny thing is that they ask all the time when they get to go back to the dentist. For some reason, they really enjoy it which is good. They like the "tickle toothbrush".
I hope you have fun in Disney World. Our trip was a lot of fun. I wish we had been there a week instead of 3 days, though!

What a smart boy! We've never taken Wesley to the dentist (Hall of Shame!), and I can't say that his eating/drinking habits are as healthy as Shep's... getting me worried here!
