Typical conversations with Shepherd...

Shep "Momma? Whut's for lunch?" Me "How about Peanut Butter and Honey, sweetheart?" Shep "Peanut Butter and Honey, momma?" Me "Yep" Shep "Peanut Butter and Honey momma?" Me "Uhuh" Shep "Mommma....Peanut Butter and Honey for lunch?" Me "Yes Shepherd...I will make you a Peanut Butter and Honey Sandwich for lunch...ok?" Shep "Oh - ok momma - that sounds great!"

Shep "Momma? Can I see Aunt Jenny tonight?...I reaallly want to see Aunt Jenny tonight...please, momma' please?!" Me "Well, I'll see what I can do..." Shep "But Momma, I reaaally want to see Aunt Jenny tonight! Can we see Aunt Jenny tonight, pleaasee?" Me "Well, Shep - Aunt Jenny's at work right now but I'll see if she can come over tonight, ok?" Shep "Ok, but momma' I reeaally want to see Aunt Jenny tonight...can she come over tonight...pleeaase?!" Me "Shepherd - are you hearing me?! I said I will do my best to get Aunt Jenny to come over...don't ask again!" Shep "Ok momma...I won't ask again. But Aunt Jenny will come over tonight, ok?!" Me "AUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Funny Conversations I've had with Shep recently:

Setting: Library
(Me) "Shepherd, Rauly...shhh - we're in the library so we have to be very quiet!" (Shep...in hushed tone) "Oh...ok, momma...I be quiet, ok...momma...I be quiet...ok?!?!" (Me) "Ok good...now stay close." (at this point, I turn around and realize Rauly has disappeared somewhere in one of the aisles) (Shep...in very loud voice) "Momma?! Where's Rauwwy? Momma? Where'd Rauwwy go?! Momma?!?!?!?!" (Me...in tensely hushed voice) "I don't know Shepherd...let's go find her. See if she's in one of the aisles up there." (I send Shep ahead about 3 aisles) (Shep...runs very loudly to look for Rauly and then turns to me and shouts) "I don't see her momma!!" (He proceeds to raise his shoulders and sigh...then says...) "Oh well, I guess I don't have a sister anymore." (Me...eyebrow raised a full inch) "Shepherd...life ain't that easy hon!" :) ....meanwhile, "Rauwwy" comes running out of the children's section in the library shrieking like a maniac and laughing her heart out...Shepherd proceeds to shush her...

(Me) "Shepherd - Mrs. Buckler called today and said that on Friday you get to bring Teddy Bear to school with you and have a "Teddy Bear Picnic Lunch"! Doesn't that sound like fun?!?!" (Shep) (quizzical look) "But momma - Teddy Bear doesn't have a mouth!"

Great stories! Love the last one in particular...they are so literal at that age!

Oh, yes, we have many conversations like that, too. Sometimes they are hilarious, and sometimes they drive me crazy! I think they drive me the most crazy when the endless questions come in the car! The kids are getting so big!

Everyone tells me that when Braden starts talking I will want him to just be quiet, but at this point I can't wait to hear those funny conversations! I totally wonder what is going on inside kids heads! Sounds like they keep you busy!

I saw most of Private Practice last night, but trying not to get hooked b/c we usually go to church on Wed. nights. I did like it though- a lot like Grey's...

Angela, these days I forget that people go to church on Wednesdays since our church (which just opened a few months ago) hasn't begun Wednesday night church yet! In the past I haven't thought there was anything worth watching on Wednesday nights so I was excited that particular show was actually interesting! :)

I love reading this and getting to see Shep's adorable personality! That teddy bear comment was very smart and so cute! James has just started the badgering, but it's just with one word..."outsigh...outsigh...outsigh...outsigh!" He says this a hundred times a day!

I'm laughing!!! Wesley is doing word verification right now... he repeats the same word over and over and over and over until we say it back. I can't imagine having to repeat entire sentences! I know it's coming, though! Shep is too funny.

Reading those conversations made me laugh! Will's in more of the "baa be du daaa ree ma to sae" stage (lots of syllables, but none that actually make up a word). My mom just told me last night, "It won't be too much longer before he's constantly asking you the same questions over and over again." From reading your post, I guess she's right :)
