Rotavirus....ugh!!!

Wow!! I could share some outrageousely funny stories with all of you...but I won't because they are equally disgusting stories and I don't want to gross out my viewers anymore than I already have from the previous post. :) What have I learned over the past 2 days?! Well, I've learned that Rauly is tough as nails. I've learned that Shepherd can fit his entire head in to the toilet while he's throwing up. I've learned that no matter how much you scrub the carpet, red juice in the form of throw up permanently stains. I've learned what each of my children's warning signs are before they need to vomit. I've learned that you can never have enough Lysol, Anti-Bacterial hand soap, Pedialyte and Tylenol. I've learned a whole lot more than that - but I'll just stop there! :)

I took Rauly to the doctor today because she wasn't urinating and was acting very lethargic - we were concerned she was deyhdrated (gee...I wonder why?!). The doctor diagnosed the kids with Rotavirus...let me just say, that is one tough virus that kicked both of my kids rear-ends!! The site that I linked this post to said that children with Rotavirus can vomit over 20 times in 24 hours...that was my very unlucky son...poor Shep. He threw up over and over and over again...and still managed to be a little angel. I'm not joking or being biased...Shepherd was the sweetest little angel child last night...saying "thank you mommy" as I rubbed his back while he threw up in to the toilet, or "I love you mommy" as I wiped his brow while he had a fever. I have been one very proud mom of both my little troopers. Thankfully the doctor said they should be over the worst of it...hallelujia! Here's a HUGE thanks to Linda for taking off work early yesterday and for taking off today to help me with my babies. What a tremendous help she has been!!! Dennis came last night as well and read books to Shep, helped with bathtime and much much more!! Ya'll are such a blessing!!! Chad is coming home to us tonight - please say a prayer for safe travels and for my kiddo's quick recovery!!! :) Thanks guys!

That is terrible that they are both so sick! I am proud that Shep held tight to his manners in his time of sickness :) Some lucky woman will thank you for that some day!

Hey, Lindsey! Sorry about the virus. Hope the worst is in the past!! Just wanted to let you know about "Spot Shot" (in the blue and orange can) works miracles on carpet stains! I found it when Blaine was very young and I had a red Icee spill!! You would never know there was a stain. You can purchase it at Wal-Mart.:)

Poor babies! I know you're probably exhausted from playing Dr. Mom. I hope the kiddos get better soon.

I just hate it when the kids are sick. And I hear you girl...it seems no matter how many baths you give them you still smell that "puke" smell. I hope they feel better soon and Chad makes it home safely!

we are praying for you! It is so hard to watch your kids be sick. Linda and Dennis are wonderful people and I am so glad they were able to help you and the kids. Oh and I second the seigel family comment about spot shot. It works wonders. The only thing I don't think it got out of our carpet was white out (don't ask- horrible story!). Everything else, you can't tell anything was there. We also found it in the econo size at Sam's a while back.

Hey Lindsey, I hope that your kids are feeliong better this morning! When Austin gets sick I wish that I could take it away from him and let me have it instead. I'm glad that you were able to get help, and I know that you be glad when chad gets back home. I'm praying for a speedy recovery for the kiddo's and a safe return for Chad.

Another Spot Shot advocate here! I don't have babies yet, but I know it works well on pet stains. My parents have used it for years.

I'm so sorry the kiddos have been so sick. Not that it will help you now, but for any other new moms who may be reading, there is a rotavirus immunization now. It's pretty new so, unfortunately, Rauly and Shep were probably too old to get it, but after reading your post, I highly recommend it to anyone with a little one (I think it's a series of 2-3 oral doses that Will started around 3-6 months)
I hope Chad had a safe trip back to Jacksonville. Speaking of Jacksonville, I've been worried about you guys. Are the fires affecting you at all?

Hey Kristy! I had no idea that had an immunization for that which I guess means it is very new...it's been 6 months since Rauly had any immunizations that they didn't mention the last time we were in - bummer! Neways, as for the Fires, we are personally unaffected (if you discount the smoke in the air). We watch the news daily though right now to make sure that it isn't moving our way. Lake City ( a city not far from Jax) is being asked to evacuate...a lot of families are abandoning their homes and scared to death that they'll lose it...they all need prayer right now (and rain!!).
