VALENTINES DAY

For the past 2 years we have lavished our children on Valentines day with stuffed animals, balloons, candies, toys and of course - lots and lots of love! Today I decided it was time to spread some of that love around and teach my kiddo's how to show love to others. SO,...the lesson started very early this morning! Since I was planning on surprising Chad with my plans, I had to wait till today to buy all my "stuff". I took the kids to the store around 8am and we bought cookie mix, icing, sprinkles, balloons and cards - it was SO fun!! Rauly just sat in the buggy, laughing and smiling while Shepherd ran around picking out everything...I guess she was helpful - she was very well behaved!! I let Shepherd pick out everything for every person we were going to love on today...he picked several different types of cookie mixes, cards and balloons and each item was unique for each person.

Once we got back to the house, we started baking, decorating, signing cards and of course...taste testing everything!! ;) We even got some edible stickers and even I thought that was totally cool and yummy! Than came the really fun part - the delivery!! First we went to Chad's parents house...then we went to Chad's work and made a delivery to his truck. Next we went to Palatka to make a surprise delivery to Chad's granny, and then we drove to St.Augustine to love on Aunt Jenny. Aunt Jenny was nice enough to share her cookies with Shepherd and Rauly! It made for a very full day but the kids both had a blast and it felt really good to know they were learning to look beyond themselves....a concept as parents we know our kids can find difficult to grasp!

Hopefully next Valentines Day won't be so windy - I actually lost a pan of cookies before they even got delivered to my own car - the wind picked the pan up out of my hands and, well,...bye bye cookies!! :) It was SO funny - there was a woman standing outside and she saw the whole thing...we both looked at eachother and started cracking up! Luckily we made lots of cookies!! Anyways, the kids still were lavished on...and I think they had more fun yesterday than we've had in a while...I know I sure did!

I hope you all had a very Happy Valentines Day!! Here's lots of love from my family to yours!!!

What a wonderful surprise to come home from work, open the door and be greeted by a balloon waving the messsage "I love you!" with a plate of beautifully decorated cookies and some sweet cards with personal messages written in them. I know that took a lot of time and effort and planning on your part, but what a wonderful experience for the kids! Thank you, Lindsey, for spreading your love and kindness on a day that sometimes becomes self-centered....we are certainly blessed!

Sounds like your love offering worked! I just read Linda's response and I'm sure the other's felt the same way! Great lesson for the kids! What a good example of Mom, daughter, wife, sister, and granddaughter you are to your family! It was so sweet to hand deliver to all your loved ones and make their day so special! I'm sure the kids loved every minute of it and what a great memory for them! The pics were so enjoyable as usual! Thanks for taking the time to share thru words and pics! I know that takes a lot of time, too! Hope you and your Valentine had a great day!

Very cool of you, Linds! I started getting some great ideas, but then I remembered "Mitchell's Law of Physics:"
MY 3 TODDLERS + COOKIE DOUGH = DISASTER!!!

Lindsey, I can't begin to tell you how much it meant to have my Valentine delivered by Shep and Rauly! I don't know if I could've had a better surprise--I smile everytime I look at my "Bee my Valentine" balloon. :-) Thanks so much for all you did!
Love,
Jenny
