Great news!!!!!!!!!!

Short Version (I know it's long, but trust me - this is the short version!):

Praise -
1.)Shepherd's hole in his growth plate is filling in with new bone
2.)His legs are both equally strong now
3.)He can play sports like any other boy and even if his leg gets broken playing football some day, the doctor said the healing process would be the same for any other kid.
4.)The fracture that was once in his tibia is completely gone.

Concerns -
1.) His left leg is shorter than his right leg...the doctor thinks it quit growing completely for a few months. (This however is a minor concern and is nothing that will affect the way he walks or his athletics...as long as there are no more growth stunts he should appear to be perfect to anyone other than an x-ray tech and his doctor!)
2.) Osteomyelitis has a history of repeating itself...meaning that most people who have Osteomyelitis as a child develop it again. (This is our biggest concern but something that our doctor said we simply cannot control - other than making sure he gets as many vitamins as possible to continue to keep his body strong. Shepherd receives 3 doses of Glyco-nutrients a day, so the vitamin part is completely covered!)

Overall this was a wonderful doctors visit and we are so thankful to have received this news! Our doctor was very encouraging about Shepherd's healing process and said he looks good and strong enough to only see him once a year now instead of twice of year. As long as his growth plate continues to fill in with new bone than he will be at NO risk for deformity or for growth stunts.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and Thank you God for continuing to heal Shepherd!

PRAISE GOD!! Thanks for sharing the wonderful news about Shepherd. We have so much to thank Him for and we will continue to pray on his behalf. We love all of you and look forward to being together soon. Have a great time at Callaway. Sorry to hear that you have the flu, Lindsey. Hope it won't mess up your trip and will pray that the rest of the family won't get it.

Good to hear that Shep's doing well! I hope you guys had a great Christmas! I did ... it was so good to be with family. Melissa and John left with my baby girl this morning and I miss them already. They made it there safely so I'm sure they're already having fun :) My sunburn has now turned to tan...sorry the pain is gone :)
